Diptych:
30" x 90", five exposures
Whether you are at play or in competition, an athlete
or spectator, running solo or on a team the Sports Arena
is a space specifically constructed to promote the human
heart to beat faster. It is architecturally designed
to be conducive to broad movements and deep breathing.
The series is a photographic expedition into the euphoria
of the space itself as if it had a lasting beat of its
own. Considering my 35mm camera as a drawing device
by taking precise multiple exposures on single negatives,
I went to the arena with the idea to render an architecture
of deep focus, endurance and the quintessence of cadence
(the
concentrated essence of an athletes rhythm).
