Monument to the Fall of the Television Evangelists
Monument to the Fall of the Television Evangelist
(1988)

Monument To The Fall of Television Evangelists was initially conceived as a fantasy in order to create a contemporary monument sited in the middle of Circus Maximus, one of the few open spaces left in the center of Rome. The monument was a conglomeration of Roman influences mixing religious and historical iconography with pop imagery, the obelisk protruding from the brick fabric church structure is constructed of recycled television antennas lit from within. In the apse was a peculiar throne-like chair which viewers were enticed to sit in and experience the 'hot seat.'
