On and
Beyond Duckling is a new species of urban, mechanical
waterfowl native to southwest Pennsylvania and found almost
exclusively in the ponds of Schenley Park. First discovered
and described by Ian Ingram, Lemettrian Geppettoist, the
On and Beyond Duckling has been observed engaging in various
of its instinctual behaviors while rowing around its natural
habitat: flight from predators (golden retrievers), the
offering of unrequited friendship to other aquatic birds,
and the hunting of fish for its own sustenance (presumably
anticipating an apparatus for catching and digesting such
fish that it does not appear to have yet evolved). The
gender of the specimen has not been determined but there
is much speculation about what might transpire were the
On and Beyond Duckling’s mate to arrive on the scene.
Surely, such an unusual species will have courtship practices
unprecedented in the natural world. |
