72"x48" distempera, chalk, ink, rabbit skin glue/canvas, 1993
hungry ducks? stab a mosquito, drink blood from the cuts.
Caught
in a queasy nether world,
neither ephemeral nor substantive,
Desperate Tales: Anxious Allegories
physically floats on the slightest currents of air
just as their referents hover in, and on,
an undulating material plane of existence.
The haunting apparitions,
gestations of personal experience
and collective mediation,
ruminate on the extensions and limits of
consciousness condemned to
awareness of its own culpability in domestic
and foreign affairs.
Frequent use of anthropomorphic and fabular
imagery elicits interpretation
of events distilled to maximize questioning
social relations while it also
acknowledges a preoccupation with the
transformed body that couples our
electronic and ancestral ages..
