030 -- From Chaos to Order: Variable Randomness Composition (Due 10/16)
Develop a composition whose degree of chaos (or entropy, randomness, etc.) is parameterized by the horizontal position of the mouse.
When the cursor is at the left edge of the canvas, the composition should be maximally predictable (orderly, regular, stable, etc.). When the cursor is at the right edge of the canvas, the composition should be maximally chaotic (disorderly, unpredictable, unbalanced, etc.). What varieties of persistence, temporal continuity and discontinuity can you achieve? -- Can you develop a model in which elements change at different rates? (I.e., can you do better than simply having the elements flit once per frame?)
Requirement: You should use one of the signal-shaping functions I provide here.
Remember the condundrum: pure noise (e.g. white noise) is actually quite predictable...
