Small Egg Tempera Paintings 

A selection from an extensive and ongoing series that takes the geologic landscape as subject and formal inspiration. Recently, I have been adding increasingly elaborate sculptural elements to these paintings. These hand-carved and gilded pieces play with the look of baroque frames, creating both a clunky physicality and implied transcendence.
