These paintings romanticize the lushness and sublimity of the sky while using its image as a large empty space in which to examine the structures of painting, representation and vision.  They are attempts to encompass some of the paradoxes of how we use and represent the world. Many of these paintings have tiny details, particularly along the edges, which are mostly lost in photographs.
